Palomino Cooking

Yes, cooking.  Cooling has been done, and is now so overused, it's passé. In fact, here's the last cooling project I did.  Got it down to almost 20 degrees Celsius, but lost a cat, 2 fingers on my left hand, and we're still undecided as to the parakeets, so I decided it was time to go another route....

Featured here is my 17- drive server case, Eheim pump, the Ultra-Kool-Maxi-Frozen-Rad™ radiator along with two Big Mamma Jamma™ 12,200 cfm 12vdc Supr-Blo-Cool-And-Yet-Be-Ever-So-Kwiet™ fans. Notice the Cordless Rechargeable by Harddrive Vibration (CRHV) battery powered Eheim commercial pump. This is a proto-type I acquired somewhere one time I was at some trade show or something... or maybe eBay.

Water Cooling at its finest

So, then, having reached the limits of my abilities, I decided it was time to maybe try another use for all the heat that was being generated by these awesome new AMD processors.  Although the surface area is entirely too small to cook eggs on directly, I have fashioned a nice little frying pan and some alternative cooking methods for preparing some of the most delicious pan fried meals I've ever eaten...road kill never tasted so good.
(Pics coming forthwith, as well as further details, and some benchmarks...... Stay tuned :)

Tea and Toast

True Underclocking does not require a massive tower case. In fact, this desktop model makes for the perfect unit.

Look for one with horizontal floppy bays, as the vertical ones work well enough, but Muffins tend to want to stick to the drives.

This one has a 3-bay drive-broiler option.
The Power Supply fan can be reversed with a switch, for a general warming option.

Here we're using the extra heat from not only the CPU, but the AGP Video card (overclocked a mild 700MHz) while playing a little Unreal Tournament 2003 online. In thirty minutes, it's dinner for two !!

As a general rule of thumb, we've found that for meats 1" thick or more, run the cpu fsb about 20% over for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, turning entrees once, to sear them. Then lower your fsb to about 12% for another 20 minutes per pound of flesh. Season to taste.

Don't forget to turn the MHz back down when finished.

Below is a nice commercial model that, if you don't have the wherewithal to build your own,
you might want to give some consideration.     $125 -$140 range, not including range hood.
