Antique German Drilling Rifle/Shotgun Combo
This is a Beautiful Antique German Drilling Rifle/Shotgun combo. The magnificent
engraving and quality of the wood work is what one would expect from a
gun maker in Prague, Circa: 1878-1895. The shotgun barrels and the side
of the profusely engraved receiver are marked:"H Roedl in Prague". The
rifle barrel is .43 Mauser calibre, and the shotgun barrels are 12 gauge. The
bores of both are in mint condition. One unique feature on this Drilling is the
letters engraved in German Silver at the rear of the stock. Each letter represents
the letter of a game "animal/bird" hunted with this longarm. Look closely at the
picture showing these letters. Apparently "A" was a popular game bagged. Each
Silver "dot" represents one (1) kill. The trigger guard is finely carved horn.
Included is over (80) beautifully machined .43 Mauser brass shells, empty, in
casing containers. Also, lead moulded bullets, .43 Mauser Caliber in individual
cases. Obviously, this arm is legally an antique, with Damascus barrels and
metallurgy that does not qualify it to be fired safely. It should be admired for
it's beauty and historical investment value only. Action and lockup are 100%.
The original blue on the metal has pretty much worn off, however the engraving
and markings are very sharp and clear.
